What we have to offer
Please note: All prices are based on hiring the whole place per night.
Located on the shores of picturesque Derwentwater, at the head of the magnificent Borrowdale Valley, this is a traditionally built, stone cottage in the grounds of Hawse End Centre. The cottage is situated at the foot of Catbell's (which Alfred Wainwright described as "one of his favourites, which while modest in height, offers splendid views").
The nearby famous Lake District Town of Keswick can be accessed via a short cruise on Dewentwater, and the launch stop is conveniently close to the cottage. For those more active there is a Lakeside walk around Derwentwater which also takes in Keswick.
This is a truly stunning location, with Derwentwater only metres from the cottage door.
There is a self-catering kitchen area with domestic sized oven, hob, fridge, microwave, pots, pans, crockery & cutlery for 24 people.
A catering service can also be made available by prior arrangement, for breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals as required, offered at very reasonable rates.
24 beds: 4x4, 1x6 and 1x2 bed rooms. Rooms have adult size bunk-beds, and all bed-linen is provided.
In grounds for 8 cars.
Kitchen/diner with folding chairs and tables seating up to 16, and a separate living room. Patio with picnic tables, barbeque and views of the lake.
Please note - For just £1 per bed (based on full capacity) you can either start your break early and check in at 2pm (normal time 4pm), or you can have a leisurely morning and check out at 2pm (normal time 12 noon), subject to availability. (At Hawse End Cottage, with 24 beds, early check in and late check-out would therefore only cost an extra £24!) Please contact the YHA Exclusive Hire team on 01629 592 700 if you are interested in extending your stay in this way!
