What we have to offer
Dolgoch Bunkhouse is a traditional simple Youth Hostel without electricity, dating from the 17th century and owned by the Elenydd Wilderness Trust. Dolgoch Bunkhouse has hot showers, a self-catering kitchen/dining room, is heated by a log burner, 20 beds in three dormitories and has been refurbished to include new toilets and showers and accessible accommodation.
There is a total of 20 beds. Bedrooms consist of 1x10, 1x4 and 1x6 bedded rooms. Each room has a wash basin. All bedding including linen is provided and visitors MUST NOT use their own sleeping bags.
Dolgoch has a modern, self-contained annexe for disabled visitors. Comprising a room with 1 double bed with bunk above and 1 single bed and a walk in shower area. This doubles as the warden’s accommodation so, if this is required, the 4 bed room will be used by the warden. Please note, if a warden is present during your stay they will need to share the kitchen and common room facilities. However, unless you require the disabled annex, they will have separate sleeping accommodation.
Adjacent to the kitchen are dining tables seating up to 20 people. Beyond the tables is a group of comfy chairs around the log burner.
The self-catering kitchen contains 1 gas cooker, 2x2 gas hobs, 2 grills and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. Tea towels/hand towels are provided. There is no fridge.
During the winter months, the water in the hostel is drained down to prevent frost damage. There is a supply of cold water to the kitchen taps. Water for washing can be heated in the kitchen. There are two battery operated showers and two toilets in the main building and please bring your own towels.
The only heating is from a wood burning stove in the common room/kitchen. There is no mains electricity but there are LED lights in the common room/kitchen, lobby and landing. There is no lighting in the dormitories so it is advisable to bring a torch, although torches are available to borrow at the hostel.
There is no refuse collection at the hostel so please aim to take your rubbish with you. There are recycling facilities available at Tregaron and Abergwesyn.
Car park with private space for 6 cars.
