The duty of care we have to our guests, beneficiaries, staff and partners compels us to progress and open our hostels with caution and careful consideration in the best interests of the charity and those it serves.
For the foreseeable future, YHA Blaxhall will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

YHA Blaxhall is the ideal base for exploring everything that the Suffolk coast has to offer. Comfortable and inviting, this former school building is at the heart of the village, which sits on the edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one of the preeminent areas for wildlife watching in the whole of Britain.
There is so much to see and do, you will want to come back time and time again.

The self-catering kitchen is equipped with ample storage space in cupboards, two cookers, two microwaves, two fridges, one freezer, with plenty of pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery available for our guests to use. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The spacious dining room seats 40. The two lounges seat 25 on soft seating and the conservatory overlooks the pretty fields beyond. The lounge is also equipped a TV and DVD player. Highchairs are also available.

YHA Blaxhall includes 43 beds:
Four six-bedded rooms. All rooms include 3 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One six-bedded room with en-suite. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds.
Two four-bedded rooms. All rooms include 3 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One three-bedded room. Includes 1 double bed with single bunk over. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One two-bedded room with en-suite. Includes 1 double bed.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 7 showers and 6 toilets close to the bedrooms. There is a disabled shower and toilet that connects to the disabled access room. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Minsmere reserve nature trails take you through a variety of habitats to excellent birdwatching hides.
Blaxhall offers walking routes for all abilities and provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy bird watching.
YHA Blaxhall is only eight miles from the sea. Nearby Blyth estuary offers a range of water sport options, or if you fancy hiring a boat the Norfolk Broads are just a short distance away.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Blaxhall is a small village, but the area offers a huge variety of things to do and see. Explore the famous nature reserves of Minsmere and Orford Ness. Go beyond RSPB Minsmere to the north and discover three reserves: Walberswick, Hen Reedbeds and Dingle Marshes which make up the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve and is home to otters, natter jack toads and five species of deer.
Just down the road from the hostel is Snape Maltings Concert Hall, one of the world’s leading centres of music, where you will find an inspiring programme of festivals and concerts all throughout the year. Just a five-minute, road-free walk from the hostel takes you to Blaxhall Heath where you will find nightjars, hares, and deer. Or run off some steam on the large playing fields that are within walking distance of the village and are perfect for all types of ball games.
There is a large car park at the front of the building with plenty of space for 12 cars. The car park is also suitable for coaches and minibuses.
From A12 turn off at Little Glemham. Turn right after 1.5 miles and go over railway crossing. At the junction by the village hall turn left. At crossroads go straight ahead up hill, YHA Blaxhall is directly in from of you.
YHA Blaxhall welcomes dogs! Add a dog to your booking at check out and bring your four-legged friend along with you.
At YHA Blaxhall we strive to cater for everybody. We have one accessible bedroom on the ground floor. There is an accessible bathroom also on the ground floor.
