For the foreseeable future, YHA Boswinger will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

Originally two stone farm cottages and a barn, YHA Boswinger has been refurbished as one building. Built around a courtyard, this is one of our oldest venues in Cornwall and stands in the centre of the quiet, seaside hamlet of Boswinger, with sea views and a wide choice of beaches. It’s the perfect holiday destination in Cornwall.
What is great about YHA Boswinger?
Only a 20-minute walk from Hemmick Beach.
Plenty of country lanes for walking or cycling.
Pretty garden and grounds with picnic benches.
The self-catering kitchen is equipped with three domestic size cookers, two fridges, one freezer, one microwave oven, two kettles, one toaster and a good selection of kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery for guests to use. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The recently refurbished dining room overlooks the back garden and has dining tables seating up to 38 guests. French windows offer access to the garden where further outdoor dining is available. A cosy lounge is furnished with 2 sofas and 3 armchairs and is accessed via the main entrance lobby. It is connected to the dining room via a passageway with foldaway food service bar which guests are free to make use of. Highchairs are also available to use.

YHA Boswinger includes 38 beds across 10 bedrooms, ranging from two beds to six beds. There is one double bed situated within a 4-bedded room.
Three six-bedded rooms. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
Three four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One four-bedded bedded room. Includes 1 double bed and 1 set of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
Three two-bedded rooms. Includes 1 set of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 6 showers and 6 toilets close to the bedrooms. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Plan a day trip to one of the many isolated and quiet coves near Boswinger for a little wild swimming.
This area is great for water sports, so whatever mode of water transport takes your fancy, take the plunge, and enjoy some fun on, or in, the water.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
St Austell lies inland from the south coast of Cornwall. The area is full of sandy beaches, brilliant coastal walks and is only a short walk from Charlestown with its iconic Shipwreck and Heritage Centre.
St Austell is famous for its China Clay which brought wealth to the town in the 18th century. You can explore the history of Cornwall’s mining heritage at the Wheal Martyn Museum and Country Park which offers a fascinating day out for all the family. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
There is space for 10 cars or 5 minibuses. Unfortunately, there is no parking for coaches.
By car: From the A390 (St Austell) take the B3273 towards Mevagissey. After 5 miles turn right at the top of the hill and follow the signs for Gorran. After 4 miles, fork right to Boswinger (follow the brown tourist signs). The hostel is situated in Boswinger hamlet just below the Seaview International campsite.
By Public Transport: First Service 471 will bring you from St Austell to Gorran Churchtown, our local stop and a pleasant 20-minute walk from the hostel. This service runs Monday to Saturday (except public holidays). The nearest train station is St Austell, 10 miles away.

At YHA Boswinger we strive to cater for everybody. Unfortunately, none of our bedrooms or washrooms is accessible to modern standards. We have:
- Two steps in total up into the hostel.
- A portable induction loops.
- Ground floor bedrooms available from March to October.
