What is great about YHA Castleton Camping Barn?

Close to all the attractions of Castleton, such as Peveril Castle.

Plenty of walking opportunities nearby.

Vast grounds to explore.

Self-catering kitchen

The self-catering kitchen facilities include a wood burning stove, an electric oven, and plenty of kitchen utensils and crockery for guests to use. The heating and cooking is done via the wood burning stove, which makes the place really cosy. The stove is also great for baking – it makes lovely bread! Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.

Dining room and lounge

The lounge and dining room are combined into one open plan social space which can seat guests comfortably. The barn has been renovated using recycled materials with timber from our own woodlands (a mix of oak, ash and sycamore). Our cosy interior has antique leather armchairs, the world’s only ‘rocking stool’ and there is a big picnic bench outside for sunny days and peaceful nights. There is no Wi-Fi and little phone signal but there are wonderful starlit skies, wildflowers, badgers, birds, and bats for entertainment.

Bedrooms

Take the place for yourself.

For family, for friends, for running clubs, for walking groups, for hens, for stags, for you and yours.

YHA Castleton Camping Barn includes 6 beds:

The six beds are on a mezzanine sleeping platform, accessed by a ladder, and can be arranged as two doubles and two singles or six singles.

All bedlinen is provided.

Bathrooms

Toilet and shower facilities are located outside, just off the patio. The shower has a high step up into the shower tray. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.

Activities

Enjoy memorable walks across ridges and open moorland or simply explore the nearby caverns and fortresses – there is something for everyone right on the hostel’s doorstep.
