Due to the coronavirus pandemic our hostels are unavailable for bookings until 31st July 2020. If you are able to donate to support YHA’s charitable work at this difficult time, we’d be very grateful. Support YHA.
We are offering our hostels to the NHS, homeless organisations and public sector services. For support please email [email protected]
Please note: All prices are based on hiring the whole place per night.
These beautiful cobbled mews are set in the grounds of YHA Castleton Losehill Hall, a newly refurbished Victorian Gothic mansion. Situated in formal gardens and 27 acres of parkland, this property is right in the heart of the Peak District National Park.
Please be aware that although you’ll have exclusive use of the West Mews, you’ll be sharing the site with YHA Castleton Losehill Hall nearby. There will be hostel guests and staff nearby so the Mews are not a suitable party venue.
There are 28 beds in seven rooms – 1 x 2, 2 x 3 en-suite, 2 x 4, 1 x 4 en-suite and 1 x 8 en-suite rooms. All bed linen is provided but please remember to bring your own towels.
Most rooms are fully en-suite and other toilet and shower areas are also provided. Two of the ground floor rooms have fully accessible facilities.
There is central heating throughout the building.
The dining room, kitchen and lounge are combined into one open plan social space which can seat 28 people in total.
The kitchen facilities include two large gas ranges (four hobs and one large oven each), microwave, toaster, water boiler, fridges and a good range of kitchen utensils, baking trays, crockery and cutlery sufficient for up to 28 people. Tea towels, cloths, black bun bags, recycling bags and washing up liquid are provided.
The lounge with leather sofas and armchairs is combined with the kitchen areas and works as a convivial social hub. There are picnic tables outside in the courtyard so if the sun is shining you can dine there. The main Youth Hostel site has a variety of lounges, bars, full restaurant/catering facilities and a games area, all of which are usually available to the Mews residents.
We have a fully enclosed courtyard and there is usually access to the main hostel parkland. In total there are 27 acres of woods and fields for you to explore!
There is space on site for eight cars.
Entrance is on the A625 from Sheffield/Hathersage and is on the East end of the village. From the west, take the A625 from Chapel en le Frith following signs for Castleton Blue John Caverns and turn down the Winnats Pass (very steep).
Guide dogs are welcome at YHA Castleton Mews. Unfortunately, pets are not permitted.
