A former water mill, YHA Clun Mill has been simply restored, retaining exposed beams and stripped timber floors. It stands in its own grounds on the edge of the un-spoilt village of Clun, in the Clun Valley. This rural retreat is now a great base for visitors on walking and cycling holidays, looking to explore the unspoilt landscape, hill forts, castles, and picturesque market towns nearby.
What is great about YHA Clun Mill?
Clun Mill was a watermill before it became a hostel in the 1930s.
A large, secure garden surrounds the hostel, with picnic tables and space for outdoor activities.
Close to the Welsh border, with great walking and cycling routes nearby.
The self-catering kitchen has a one domestic sized oven and grill, one induction hob, two kettles, two domestic sized fridges, one freezer, two toasters, one microwave and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery for 23 people. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The dining room and lounge are a combined area with a wood burning stove, plenty of books and pretty views of the mill workings. There are long wooden benches and tables, with chairs seating a maximum of 23 people. There is a small separate lounge area which seats 8 people. Highchairs are also available.

YHA Clun Mill includes 23 beds:
One seven-bedded room. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds and 1 single bed. With its own bathroom facilities in the corridor.
Two four-bedded rooms with en-suite. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds.
One eight-bedded room with en-suite. Includes 4 sets of bunk beds.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 4 showers and 5 toilets within the hostel. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Explore numerous National Trust and English Heritage properties, including Stokesay Castle, Berrington Hall and Croft Castle.
Take a day trip to Ludlow, known for its castle, friendly atmosphere, and quirky, independent shops.
Clun is surrounded by the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so Clun walks are right on your doorstep.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Clun is a small, charming town in Shropshire, England, and is known to be one of the most tranquil locations in England. The town is brimmed with fascinating history and culture, making it an ideal place to visit for history lovers.
Overlooking the town is the ruined Borderland castle, with the River Clun weaving past, makes a perfect picnic spot for the family, and the little ones can release their energy running across the embankments. Today, the town of Clun is full of interesting buildings, landmarks, and side streets through which to wander.
There is parking next to the hostel for 8 cars and 3 cars on the hostel driveway.
Take the B4368 out of Craven Arms. Follow that road until you reach the village of Clun after 9 miles. Once at Clun, take the right-hand road signposted youth hostel and keep following the signs.
YHA Clun Mill welcomes up to 4 dogs! Add a dog to your booking at check out and bring your four-legged friend along with you. Dogs must remain on the ground floor, so please bring a way of keeping them safe overnight.
