Accommodation
Stunningly located and with a cosy, friendly feel, YHA Coniston Coppermines offers a 500ft head start on the ascent of the Old Man of Coniston within the Lake District National Park. If you are up for the challenge, scale the Old Man to enjoy incredible views from the summit. The hostel is in a wonderfully remote mountain setting, surrounded by the Coniston Fells, there are few other buildings in the vicinity.

Self-catering kitchen
There is a large self-catering kitchen for communal cooking with plenty of preparation areas and washing facilities on the ground floor by the entrance. It contains two electric cookers, two fridges, a microwave and all the essential cooking items required for both group and individual catering. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The dining room seats 26 people at tables and chairs. The cosy lounge is located on the first floor and has soft seating for 18 guests. The lounge has magnificent views and a wood-burning stove, perfect for winding down after a day’s exploring. Highchairs are also available.

YHA Coniston Coppermines includes 28 beds:
Ground floor
One eight-bedded room. Includes 4 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
First floor
Three four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
Two four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
All bedlinen is provided.
Bathrooms
There are 3 showers and 6 toilets close to the bedrooms. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Activities
From the hostel there are spectacular walking and hiking opportunities across Coniston Water, towards the surrounding fells.
This lovely area is great for water sports, so whatever mode of water transport takes your fancy, take the plunge, and enjoy the fun.
Enjoy a beautiful boat cruise on Coniston Water, staying on the boat for the full cruise or getting off at a jetty to explore.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Location
Coniston is the perfect holiday destination to explore the surrounding fells, water, and woodlands. Situated in the heart of the Lake District, the village of Coniston is a favourite with holidaymakers who are looking for an adventure.
With many traditional shops such as a butcher, bakery, newsagents and several pubs and cafes to choose from, and a variety of activities to try such as hiking, cycling, water sports and climbing, there is a lot of things to see and do for all ages and abilities, during your visit to Coniston.
Parking
Parking is located next to the hostel and has space for 8 cars. Please note: the hostel is up a steep, rough gravel track.
Directions
By car: From Coniston village, take the road between the Black Bull Pub and Co-op food store. The road becomes an uneven track, climbing steadily then levelling, 1.25 miles.
By coach: The nearest National Express coach stop is in Ambleside, 6 miles away. Book your coach tickets here.
By train: If you are travelling by train the nearest station is Windermere, from there we are either a 12-mile bus or taxi ride away.
By Bus: If you are travelling by bus from Windermere take either the X8 (Chorley-Keswick) or the 505 (Windermere-Coniston) to Ambleside. Alternatively, you could take the 555 (Lancaster-Keswick) to Ambleside. From Ambleside take the 505 (Windermere-Coniston) and alight at The Crown Inn. Then take the road between the Black Bull Pub and Co-op food store. The road becomes an uneven track, climbing steadily then levelling, 1.25 miles.

YHA Coniston Coppermines welcomes up to 4 dogs! Add a dog to your booking at check out and bring your four-legged friend along with you.
