Dufton is a large stone house with polished wooden floors and its own garden. It overlooks the village green in the centre of a pretty, 17th century village in the Eden Valley, on both the Pennine Way and Cumbria Cycle Way.
The self-catering kitchen contains two domestic cookers with an oven and four hobs for each appliance, four hobs, a microwave, water urn and a range of kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery. Tea towels are provided.
32 beds arranged in:
1×2 en-suite shower, 1×2, 4×4, and 2×6 bed rooms. All bed linen is provided.
In front of the building for 12 cars with additional space in village car park.
From Scotch Corner and the East: Leave the A66 at Appleby, follow the signs for Dufton.
From Penrith and the West: Leave the A66 before Appleby, take left turn signed Long Marton and Dufton.
Dining room & lounge
There is a combined dining room and lounge which seats 24 people at tables and chairs and 8-10 on easy chairs around the fire – all kindling, logs and coal are provided. The conservatory provides additional seating for 10 overlooking the large garden ideal for spotting local wildlife.
There are six showers and six toilets. Please bring your own towels.
Central heating throughout. The hostel manager and his family and staff live on-site in a property at the rear of the hostel and share access with guests to the hostel garden. There is a separate access door for staff and therefore they do not need access to the main building.
