For the foreseeable future, YHA Ennerdale Barn will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

Originally two adjoining cottages, recently refurbished to a high standard, YHA Ennerdale is set in its own grounds in a wooded valley surrounded by fells and ridges in the western part of the Lake District. A real away from it all location, deep in the Ennerdale Valley.
The self-catering kitchen contains two domestic sized cookers, a large fridge-freezer and a range of kitchen utensil, crockery and cutlery for 24 people. Tea towels are provided.
There are 24 beds arranged in 3 x 4 (all with washbasins) and 2 x 6 bedded rooms. One of the bedrooms is en-suite and on the ground floor. Please be aware that there are no electric sockets in the bedrooms. All bed linen is provided.
There is parking for six cars in the grounds. Approach along a forest road.
On the A66 from Keswick, turn off at Cockermouth onto the A5086. Turn left at Lamplugh, passing Lamplugh church, then left passing Inglenook Caravan Park. Continue to the T junction in the hamlet of Croasdale. Turn left here into Croasdale, and follow the road to Bowness Knott car park. Drive along the forest track for 2 miles to reach the hostel.
Dining room and lounge
The combined dining room/lounge has great views across the fells with seating 24 at tables and chairs and four on easy chairs around the wood-burner.
There are five showers, three toilets and seven washbasins. Please bring your own towels.
A large, rough garden surrounds the building.
There is a payphone and central heating. YHA staff are resident in an adjacent building.
Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Adhering to Government guidance
It is your responsibility to ensure you are aware of the current Government guidance on gatherings in self-catering accommodation. In making a booking with YHA (England & Wales) you are agreeing to adhere to the relevant Government guidance that will apply at the time of your stay. Please bear in mind that the guidance may be different in England and Wales.
