Please note: All prices are based on hiring the whole place per night.

The hostel is available for Exclusive Hire as 2 separate self-contained units. YHA Exford – Exemead Bunk House accommodating up to 34 people and YHA Exford – Exemead Lodge which offers accommodation for a max of 19 people.

Accommodation

A former Victorian Gentleman’s residence, with timber features, this building stands in its own secluded wooded riverside grounds with ample social space, in the centre of a quiet village, next to the banks of the unfenced River Exe and in the heart of the Exmoor National Park and the UK’s Dark Sky Reserve.

Self-catering kitchen

The ground floor self-catering kitchen for option 1 contains three domestic sized cookers, four hobs, two fridges, one freezer, two microwaves, kettles and a range of kitchen utensils crockery and cutlery for 34 people. Tea towels, bin bags and washing up liquid are provided.

A catering service is available if arranged in advance with Breakfast and all meals served daily across the road at The Exmoor White Horse Inn

Each lounge and dining area has adequate seating for guests as well as TV and board games for guests to enjoy during their stay.

YHA Exford Exemead Bunkhouse sleeps 34 people:

Three two-bedded rooms. Includes 1 set of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.

Two three-bedded rooms. One room includes 1 double bed with single bunk over. With shared bathroom facilities.

Four four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.

One six-bedded room. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.

All bedlinen is provided.

Bathrooms

The ground floor offers 5 showers and 5 toilets for guests to use during their stay. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.

Activities

Mountain biking on moor.

Exmoor Adventures- offers a range of land and water-based activities such as coasteering, kayaking and rock climbing.

Guided walks from Exmoor National Park.

On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am

Location

The village of Exford is at the heart of Exmoor National Park, surrounded by ever changing scenery from moor to coast with unlimited uninhabited and wide-open spaces – an outdoor enthusiast and walker’s paradise at any time of year. This is a great location for mountain biking, horse riding and many other outdoor activities. The hostel is situated by the River Exe surrounded by open hills and wooded valleys.

Exmoor is home to many historical sites of interest – The Clapper Bridge at Tarr Steps, the old mines at Simonsbath, the villages of Lynton & Lynmouth and Porlock that feature in the Lynmouth flood disaster, and the Doone Valley made famous by the RD Blackmore book. The stunning moorland close by includes Dunkery Beacon (highest point on Exmoor enabling views towards Dartmoor) and Winsford Hill, inhabited by wild Red Deer, Exmoor Ponies and an array of birdlife, wildlife and flora and fauna.

Beautiful sandy beaches of North Devon are nearby -Woolacombe and Croyde, are just 3/4hrs drive away whilst West Somerset boasts nearby stunning pebble beaches of Porlock Weir, Bossington Beach, with Minehead and Dunster beach also in easy reach, as well as a selection of National Trust “chocolate box” villages at Selworthy and Luccombe in one direction, and Arlington in the other.

Parking

The car park at the front of the property can take approx. 20 cars and is also suitable for coaches.

Directions

The hostel is in the centre of Exford village, over the bridge and first on the left.

Details of how to get to Exford Hostel from the M5 Motorway Junction 25: Distance 26 miles, approx. time 3/4 hour to 1 hour.

Leave junction 25 (Taunton) follow the A358 from Taunton towards Minehead for about 3 miles and then turn left along the B3224. After about 10 miles you will come to Raleighs Cross (pub). Go straight past and then turn right following the B3224 which changes course here. Continue for approx. 6 miles until you reach Wheddon Cross. Go straight across at the crossroads following the signs to Exford (Approx 5 miles). We are located opposite The Exmoor White Horse Inn.

Dogs

Registered guide dogs are welcome at YHA Exford. Unfortunately, pets are not permitted either indoors or in the grounds.
