YHA Grinton Lodge is surrounded by stunning scenery and exceptional views of the Yorkshire Dales.
For walking holidays there are lots of routes throughout the Yorkshire Dales National Park for varying abilities and for anyone doing the Coast to Coast walk, YHA Grinton Lodge makes for a well-deserved stop-off point. If you’re on your mountain bike, set off from the hostel and choose a path to suit you.
YHA Grinton Lodge is a converted hunting lodge built in 1817 by the Dodsworth family. In 1948 the lodge and 5 acres of land was sold to the YHA. It has undergone several renovations since and now has 20 bedrooms including five en-suites sleeping 77 inside the hostel and 18 in the camping pods. There is also plenty of space for a few tents.
All bedding is provided. Please bring towels and toiletries. Bedrooms: 4 x 2 bunk, 1 x 3 bunk (double with single over), 9 x 4 bunk (one en-suite), 4 x 6 bunk (two en-suite), 1 x double bedroom with bathroom, 1 x double bed and 2 bunk room en-suite.
Every bedroom has a sink and mirror with toilets and showers nearby. Five rooms are en-suite. There are toilets and showers outside for the camping and cabins accommodation. Drying room and washing machine are also available.
Our dining room seats 45 people with dining tables and chairs. Two highchairs are also available. Additionally the garden room seats up to 20 people on tables and chairs.
Lounge and TV room
We have a cosy lounge with multi fuel stove, sofas, chairs, tables and window seats as well as a TV room with sofas and chairs. Free wi-fi is available in both rooms.
There is a small self catering dining room adjacent to this which seats 20 as well as a range of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. Tea towels, cloths and paper hand towels are all provided.
There is a lockable bike shed outside, please bring locks for individual bikes too.
Games room and classroom
Pool table and football table is available in our games room. Our classroom seats around 30 people.
In the area
The hostel is just a 10 minute walk from the village of Grinton which has a cosy pub and a small church. A little further is the village of Reeth with three pubs, small grocery shops, arts and crafts shops, an excellent ice cream parlour and a playground.
