A must for dedicated walkers! This former quarry workers’ house, at the summit of Honister Pass, is in true mountain country with easy access to England’s highest peaks. Steep valleys stretch down from the mountains to Derwentwater to create a beautiful and distinctive landscape. There’s a 400 year old working slate mine next door.
Our kitchen has two domestic size gas cookers, one fridges and kettles on the hob. There is no mains electricity which means that we don’t have a toaster, electric kettle etc. There are utensils crockery and cutlery for 26 people.
There is space for 26 people to share 5 x 4 bed rooms and 3 x 2 bed rooms. All bed linen is provided. The hostel is centrally heated throughout.
There is space for five cars in the car park and there is a national trust car park nearby.
From Keswick follow the B5289 (signed Borrowdale) for approximately 9 miles. The hostel on the left at the top of the pass.
Dining room and lounge
We have a combined dining room and lounge, with seating for 26 around tables and chairs, plus a few easy chairs and a comfy sofa.
There are four toilets and four showers.
