YHA Ironbridge Coalbrookdale is ideally located within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, home to 10 family friendly museums, littered with industrial archaeology and brimming with tea rooms, pubs and eateries. It is a converted iconic grade 2 listed building, built by the Coalbrookdale Company. Walk to the hands-on science attraction Enginuity and visit the Blast Furnace where Abraham Darby’s new method of smelting iron sparked the Industrial Revolution. The building is just one mile’s walk to the Iron Bridge.
The kitchen is very well equipped to cater for large groups of people. The open plan kitchen looks out onto the dining room, which means you can still socialise whilst you cook!
Kitchen facilities include two large gas ranges (6 hobs and one large oven each), a microwave, toaster, a water boiler, kettles, fridges and freezer and a good range of kitchen utensils, baking trays, crockery and cutlery sufficient for 52 people. Tea towels, cloths, black bin bags, recycling bags and washing up liquid are provided. Catering Options are also available – please contact the hostel for further information.
In the 74 bed option, beds are arranged as: 15 en-suite rooms, 2 bedrooms with showers, 4 toilets 2 showers, 19 x showers, 19 x toilets. In the 52 bed option, beds are arranged as: 13 en-suite bedrooms, 2 bedrooms with showers, 4 toilets, 2 showers, 17 x showers, and 17 x toilets.
There’s space on site for 8 cars. Additional parking can be found 5 minutes’ walk away in the Museum of Iron car park.
From Telford Centre or M54 follow the signs to Ironbridge. Pass through Ironbridge center (passing the bridge on your left) and turn right at the roundabout into Coalbrookdale (Dale Road). Continue half a mile up this road, then turn onto Paradise which will be on your right. This is a sharpish turning. The hostel is immediately on your left, just before the war memorial.
Dining room and lounge
The dining room comfortably seats 50 and there is a combined games room/lounge which seats 25 on sofas and comfy tub chairs (extra chairs from the dining room can be brought in). An additional lounge adjacent to the dining room has a small fridge and a kettle.
The large television lounge seats up to 25 people on sofas and comfy tub chairs, although extra chairs from the dining room can be brought in. It has a TV/DVD player. There is also a small lounge with a fridge, sink and kettle adjacent to the main dining room.
Most of the rooms are fully en-suite, however other toilet and shower areas are provided.
A fully enclosed garden with sloping lawns around the building and a terrace at the front with some outdoor seating.
The building is fully central heated. YHA staff are on site, but use a separate entrance. This property is suitable for children under the age of three years.
