For the foreseeable future, YHA Isle of Wight Totland will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only. If you are interested in staying for a purpose which you believe is within current government regulations, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
It is your responsibility to ensure you are aware of the current government guidance on gatherings in self-catering accommodation. In making a booking with YHA (England & Wales) you are agreeing to adhere to the relevant government guidance that will apply at the time of your stay. Please bear in mind that the guidance may be different in England and Wales.

A large, Edwardian house in its own grounds, YHA Isle of Wight Totland enjoys a seaside location close to downland cliffs and beaches, ideal for quiet country walks. Good ferry and transport access make this a great base for exploration.
What is great about YHA Isle of Wight Totland?

There is a spacious, modern self-catering kitchen. The kitchen contains two domestic electric cookers with four hobs, one microwave, two fridges, two toasters, two kettles, and plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery for guests to use during their stay. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
YHA Totland has two dining rooms, seating 36 and 48 on ample tables and chairs. There are also two lounges. The first is located on the ground floor. It has 5 comfy sofas, 2 armchairs and a flat screen TV to relax with after a long day on the coast. There is a separate quiet lounge on the first floor, with 6 sofas and 10 armchairs. There are shelves of books and piles of board games and puzzles.
There is a large garden with 4 big tables and benches, seating 12 people per table. There are also 3 charcoal BBQs for guests to use, especially in the warmer months.

Across the entire building there is a total of 10 bedrooms.
Two en-suite rooms that sleep up to 6 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds and 2 single beds.
One room that sleeps up to 6 people. It includes 3 sets of bunk beds.
Two en-suite rooms that sleep up to 4 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds.
Two rooms that sleep up to 4 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds.
One en-suite room that sleeps up to 3 people. It includes a high sleeper bunk with a double bed underneath.
Two rooms that sleep up to 2 people each. They include 1 set of bunk beds.
All bedlinen is provided.
Across the entire building there are 10 bathrooms, including 5 en-suite bathrooms. There are 9 toilets and 10 showers in total. Toilet paper is provided and hand soap is available next to all sinks.
There is a playing field in Totland village, with football pitches, exercise machines, a zip-wire and play equipment for visitors to use. The playing field is only a 10-minute walk away from the hostel.
The hostel is surrounded by National Trust land and footpaths galore. The quiet west of the island is best for walking and rambling, with many footpaths through enchanted woods or fields, along the cliffs or on the beaches.
You cannot visit the Isle of Wight and not see the iconic Needles – a series of chalk stacks which protrude into the sea. The view from the chalky cliffs is amazing!

Check-in and check-out times
On the day of arrival, the hostel is available from 16:00. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10:00.
To the north of the hostel is Totland village, Totland Bay, and the beach, and then the next beach in Colwell Bay. The area is a walkers and cyclist dream destination. The area is surrounded by countryside and beaches, perfecting for exploring. The many dreamy beaches are clean and safe and ideal for surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and kayaking- fun for all the family.
The beaches and villages all have pubs, cafes, coffee shops and restaurants, for guests to grab a bite to eat and relax after a day’s exploring the beautiful area.
There is a gravel carpark outside the hostel’s front door, with space for 8 cars. Street parking is available opposite our building, for one large coach or 3 minibuses or 6 extra cars. Both car park and street parking are free.
The centre of Totland village is our “War Memorial” roundabout and bus stop. Take the garage exit ‘Weston Road’. Follow Weston Road to its end [800m], it ends in a T Junction. Turn left, go up ‘Hurst Hill’ after 200m the road narrows to a single lane. The single lane lasts 50m then opens onto a crossroad. Turn immediately left, this is ‘Cranstoun Close’ we are the big building on your left. St Saviours Catholic church is diagonally opposite the hostel over the crossroad.
