For the foreseeable future, YHA Minehead will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

A country retreat in an attractive house high in Somerset’s Exmoor hills, YHA Minehead is perfect for a weekend break or family get-together. Enchantingly situated in a woodland hideaway, the hostel boasts magnificent grounds whilst being situated close to some of Somerset’s most beautiful coastline.

The self-catering kitchen contains one domestic sized cooker with four hobs, one microwave, two fridges, one freezer, and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery for guests to use during their stay. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The spacious dining room seats 30 on 4 tables and ample benches, overlooking the enchanted wooded valley. The cosy lounge is across from the dining room and is furnished with soft seating for 10 people. Highchairs are also available.
There is also outdoor seating for guests to use, especially in the warmer months.

YHA Minehead includes 29 beds:
One three-bedded room. Includes 1 double bed and 1 single. With shared bathroom facilities.
One six-bedded room. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
Two four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
One five-bedded room. Includes 1 double bed with single bunk over and 1 set of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
Two three-bedded rooms. Includes 1 double bed with single bunk over. With shared bathroom facilities.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 5 showers and 4 toilets close to the bedrooms. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
There are walks right from the hostel’s doorstep, up onto the top of Exmoor. The scenery is suitably described in the hymn ‘All things Bright and Beautiful’ which was written less than a mile away.
There are plenty of road cycling opportunities around Minehead. The area has many hills, so it’s better suited for more advanced cyclists or if you love a challenge.
Wimbleball Lake is 40 minutes away from the hostel, where you can learn to kayak, canoe, sail, and fish with all the equipment provided.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Not only is Minehead a picturesque seaside resort with a cracking sandy beach, it’s also the northern gateway to the National Park, the area’s largest town and the start point of the South West Coast Path – the nation’s longest long-distance walking trail. Take a stroll down the tree-lined Avenue and pay a visit to the tea rooms, pubs, and independent shops in the town centre. Make YHA Minehead your chosen holiday location today.
Located before the main building, alongside the drive on right hand side. There is space for a maximum of 10 cars.
Turn off the A39 at Alcombe into Brook Street or Church Street to the Britannia Inn, then on to Manor Road which becomes a private, unmade road for the last 1/2 mile. Please note: YHA Minehead can be difficult to find after dark, so bring a torch!
YHA Minehead welcomes dogs! Add a dog to your booking at check out and bring your four-legged friend along with you. Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms, kitchen, and must always be kept on a lead.
