A former family home, this converted country house is set in extensive grounds with easy access to both the New Forest and Bournemouth’s beaches. This is the ideal base for a ‘get away from it all’ break close to the seaside.
The self-catering kitchen contains an electric domestic sized cooker and a gas commercial sized cooker with eight gas hobs, two toasters, two kettles, commercial sized fridge, small freezer and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery for 33 people. Tea towels, cloths and washing up liquid are provided.
33 beds arranged in six bedrooms: Room 1 – 1 double bed and 5 singles, Room 2 – 4 bed with en-suite, Room 3 – 6 bed, Room 4 – 5 bed with en-suite, Room 5 – 1 double and 3 single beds, Room 6 – 6 bed. All bedrooms have wash basins and all linen is provided.
YHA New Forest have three large camping pods available for guests to stay in all year round. These comfortable alternatives to traditional camping sleep four people in one double futon and two single beds. You’re completely protected from the elements – the pods are even heated! Mattresses, futons and bedding is all included for your comfort and each pod has its own individual decking area which is perfect for soaking up the sun during the warmer months.
This takes the hostel capacity to 45.
Parking on-site is limited to 20 cars, coaches can park in the village.
From A31 follow signs to Burley and continue on the road through the village past Burley School and the cricket field on left. Ignore signs for the Youth Hostel by the cricket field and proceed ½ mile to the next turning on the left, signposted White Buck Inn, and take the track to left of Inn entrance, the entrance to YHA New Forest is the third gate on the right.
Dining Room & Lounge:
The dining room has seating at tables and chairs for 28 people, the lounge seats 14 people and has an open fire (a complementary pack of safety logs is provided and further packs are available for purchase). There is central heating throughout.
One shower and one toilet on the ground floor. Two showers and two toilets on the first floor in addition to two en-suite bedrooms. Please bring your own towels.
A large, flat lawn surrounds the building to the front and rear of the main building. Other YHA staff reside in the building.
Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
