Adhering to government guidance
For the foreseeable future, YHA Newport Pembrokeshire will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only. If you are interested in staying before 25th March 2021 for a purpose which you believe is within current government regulations, please contact us to discuss your requirements. Bookings after 26th March 2021 can be made online as normal.
It is your responsibility to ensure you are aware of the current government guidance on gatherings in self-catering accommodation. In making a booking with YHA (England & Wales) you are agreeing to adhere to the relevant government guidance that will apply at the time of your stay. Please bear in mind that the guidance may be different in England and Wales.

Accommodation
YHA Newport Pembrokeshire offers good quality accommodation in the heart of a bustling city. The Newport Sands beach, local shops, pubs, coastal path, and bird sanctuary are all within easy reach of the building. YHA Newport Pembrokeshire also sits in the shadows of the Preseli Hills which have fantastic views from the top, great for walking holidays.

Self-catering kitchen
The hostel includes an open plan self-catering kitchen, well equipped with two sinks, two domestic ovens and grills, two hobs, two fridges, one compact freezer, one microwave, with plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery for guests to use. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The cosy hostel lounge area is located upstairs and includes six two-seater sofas, and four single seater sofas, so guests can relax here after a day’s exploring. The spacious dining area is located with the self-catering kitchen. The dining area has 7 tables, 16 chairs and 4 benches which you can arrange depending on your group’s needs. Highchairs are also available.

Ground floor
One four-bedded room. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
Two six-bedded rooms. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
First floor
Two two-bedded rooms. Includes 1 set of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
Two four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
All bedlinen is provided.
Bathrooms
There are 4 showers and 4 toilets close to the bedrooms for guests to use. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Activities
Explore Dina’s Head. This dramatic, circular walk is 465 feet above sea level. It is hard going but the views are worth the effort.
Pembroke Castle is a medieval fortress, with its endless passages, tunnels and stairways waiting to be explore. Make sure you do not miss the medieval life exhibitions. A great day out for all ages.
There are ample cycle routes around the town to enjoy and routes go up around the Presilli Hills. YHA Newport Pembrokeshire is popular with long distance cyclists as they pass through Newport.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Location
There is so much to see and do in Newport. Newport is surrounded by wonderful landscapes including an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Forest of Dean, which are all great for walking, and all less than an hour’s drive from Newport. Take a day out to the iconic Tredegar House, spots wildlife on the 18th century canal or explore the National Roman Legion Museum and learn something new. Parking
Parking is available outside of the hostel which is shared with the commercial units next door. There is no coach access, but minibuses are welcome.
Directions
From the A487 to Fishguard turn right into Lower St Mary Street. The hostel is on the right behind the Eco Centre.
