YHA Osmotherley is an ideal base for discovering the very best of what North Yorkshire has to offer. Located in the beautiful North York Moors National Park it is surrounded by trails for walking and cycling with outstanding views over the moors and sales. The hostel is close to the A19 dual carriageway, making it extremely easy to access, yet is set in a beautiful and secluded location.

The large self-catering kitchen area comprises two large fridges (6 shelves in each), one large upright freezer with 6 drawers, one microwave, one 4 slice toaster, three electric kettles, one domestic size oven with separate grill, a tower of three large domestic size (fan assisted) electric ovens with 2 shelves in each. A total of twelve gas rings/hobs. We also supply a good variety of saucepans, frying pans, oven trays, and dishes. There are plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses, and mugs for guests to use during their stay. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The contemporary dining room overlooks stunning woodland, seating up to 61 people, with access to the kitchens is directly from the dining room. Seating arrangements are fully flexible, tables can be from 4 people, up to 20 people, and everything in between. We provide tables and chairs, table covers, and a separate area with cutlery and condiments. Highchairs are also available.
The stylish lounge is newly decorated and is a bright and airy place to relax. Our brand new, state of the art furniture is modern and comfortable, perfect for chatting with friends and family, relaxing or just hanging out with a glass of wine for an evening. Adjacent is a separate TV lounge.

Please note: All prices are based on hiring the property with 45 beds (10 bedrooms). If you would like to bring more people just let us know! An extra four rooms are available which brings the capacity of the property up to 61 guests (14 bedrooms) for an extra cost of £150 per night, you can add this option at the checkout page.

All rooms are en-suite. In addition, there are 2 showers and 4 toilets throughout the hostel. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Stunning walking routes are all around YHA Osmotherley, from local village strolls to National 100-mile walks, it’s all on the doorstep. Within a 10 min stroll is the local beauty spot of Cod Beck Reservoir & Sheepwash, which is also the start of the famous Lyke Wake Walk. The Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast walking and cycle routes are on the doorstep as well as National Cycleway Route 65.
Within the beautiful woodland grounds of the hostel, are bushcraft and shelter building areas. The adjacent stream is perfect for stream scrambling and playing in. These are available for your use (with separate permission).
Fancy some climbing? Scugdale is popular with climbers and only 6 miles away.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
YHA Osmotherley is situated in a peaceful and tranquil valley, adjacent to a beautiful stream and woodland, yet within 10 minutes’ walk you will find the picturesque village of Osmotherley, with a tearoom, pubs and shops.
Just a stone’s throw from the hostel are some stunning North Yorkshire Moors attractions. The public footpath at the doorstep of the hostel, within 10 mins takes you to Cod Beck Reservoir and Sheepwash, a local beauty spot. A longer walk gets you to Lady Chapel and English Heritage Mount Grace Priory. Jump in a car and within 30 mins drive is Roseberry Topping, Sutton Bank National Park visitors centre, Captain Cooks Monument and many more.
The traditional Yorkshire market town of Northallerton is only 6 miles away with many unique, boutique shops and all convenience supermarkets as well as swimming pool, golf courses, and much more.
Car parking is free; the large gravelled car park is located adjacent to the hostel just a 100m walk from the entrance. There is ample parking for up to 30 cars. The car park can also take minibuses and coaches.
By car: Exit A19 dual carriageway (between Thirsk and Teesside) at the A684 signposted Northallerton/Osmotherley. Travel into Osmotherley (approximately one mile). At the T-Junction/village cross, turn left. YHA Osmotherley is approximately a quarter of a mile out of the village on the right.
By train: The nearest train stations are Northallerton (six miles) and Thirsk.
By bus: There is a regular bus service from Northallerton and Stokesley to Osmotherley by G Abbotts of Leeming. It is then a 15-minute walk from Osmotherley bus stop to the hostel.
Yes, a maximum of 2 dogs are allowed at YHA Osmotherley (strictly downstairs only). There is a small extra charge.
At YHA Osmotherley we strive to cater for everybody. All bedrooms are on the first floor accessed by stairs. Presently we do not have any rooms on the ground floor and none of our rooms meet modern accessible standards.
