For the foreseeable future, YHA Sherwood Forest will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

Set in the heart of the area famed for being the home territory of Robin Hood and his merry men, YHA Sherwood Forest is a vibrant hostel with cosy social areas, high quality facilities and a quirky exterior. The hostel is located a 20-minute walk from the mighty Major Oak and literally across the road from the new Sherwood Forest visitors centre. The hostel is a great base for those wanting to explore the green surroundings and follow in the legendary Robin Hood’s footsteps.
What is great about YHA Sherwood Forest?

The hostel boasts stunning gardens and grounds.
There is a large self-catering kitchen for communal cooking with plenty of preparation areas and washing facilities. It contains two electric ovens, one large fridge and freezer, a microwave, two kettles, and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery for guests to use during their stay. Tea towels, recycling bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The spacious dining room seats 48 people with 12 tables and 48 chairs for guests to use. The cosy lounge seats up 20 people on comfy sofas and tub chairs, with extra seating being brought in from the dining room. There is a TV/DVD player, board games, a giant Connect 4, a giant Jenga and a range of good books. Basically, everything you need to keep you occupied during your stay. Highchairs are also available.
The hostel’s beautiful grounds are partially enclosed, with lush green lawns which surround the building. There are also picnic benches if you fancy a spot of al fresco dining in the warmer months.

YHA Sherwood Forest includes 48 beds:
Four four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With sink, shower, and shared toilet facilities.
Two two-bedded rooms with en-suite. Includes 1 set of bunk beds.
Seven five-bedded rooms with en-suite. Includes 1 double bed with single bunk over, and 1 set of bunk beds.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 13 showers and 13 toilets throughout the hostel for guests to use. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
There is plenty of walking opportunities close to the hostel, including a delightful nine-mile walk that leads through the village of Edwinstowe and the splendid Rufford Abbey, where you can enjoy the pretty gardens and relax in the tea room.
Idyllic walks with amazing scenery and wildlife, all nestled in the remains of Clumber Park’s history. Explore the Gothic-style chapel, often referred to as a ‘Cathedral in miniature’.
Ride the rapids on the 700m white water course or simply laze away an hour or two boating on the lake at the National Watersports Centre – great fun for everyone.

On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Edwinstowe is in the centre of Sherwood Forest. There is plenty to see and do within the surrounding area. The lively village is dotted with a variety of independent shops, cafes, and pubs, suited to all tastes and preferences.
The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, the home of Robin Hood, and the mighty Major Oak is a short stroll away and is the perfect family day out. There are many rambling and cycling paths weaving through the idyllic woodlands for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
The Sherwood Forest is filled with many attractions including Sherwood Pines, Go Ape, and White Post Farm, so there’s ample entertainment for you to enjoy during your visit. Make YHA Sherwood Forest your chosen holiday location today.
YHA Sherwood Forest has a free car park on-site for guests and patrons, that accommodate 14 cars (more if blocked in). Please note that this car park is controlled by an ANPR parking system. Upon arrival, motorists are required to validate their presence by entering their car’s registration number at reception. There is space for two coaches if there are no cars in the car park.
Edwinstowe is on the A6075. Follow the signs in village centre for the Sherwood Forest Youth Hostel.
