For the foreseeable future, YHA Street will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

Opened in 1931, YHA Street is the oldest YHA hostel still in operation today and makes for the ideal location for a Somerset activity break, with easy access to great routes for cycling and walking. The charming Swiss-style chalet is surrounded by delightful National Trust land, waiting to be explored.

The self-catering kitchen is separated from the main dining room by a modern breakfast bar style island. The kitchen contains two domestic electric ovens, two x 4 ring induction hobs, one fridge, one freezer, two microwaves, two toasters and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery for 28 people. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.

The dining room seats 25 people at tables and chairs, with additional seats in the adjacent snug room, equipped with comfy seating and a range of board games for guests to use. Highchairs are also available.

YHA Street includes 33 beds:
Three four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
One two-bedded room. Includes 1 set of bunk beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
One three-bedded room. Includes 1 set of bunk beds and 1 single bed. With shared bathroom facilities.
One five-bedded room. Includes 1 double bed and 3 single beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
One three-bedded room. Includes 3 single beds. With shared bathroom facilities.
We have two large camping pods at YHA Street, which each sleep four (on a double futon and two single beds). Enjoy luxury camping without the luxury price tag. These wooden pods have heating and an outdoor seating area – perfect for disposable BBQs.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 3 showers and 4 toilets throughout the hostel for guests to use. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Get outdoors and stride out on foot to explore the beauty of this part of the country. Whether it be walking routes or off the beaten track, you are sure to enjoy wandering around and taking in the sights.
Buy authentic Cheddar cheese, explore Gough’s cave system, and enjoy a three mile walk around the famous gorge.
Visit the City of Wells in Somerset, England’s smallest city, with its historic centre, the magnificent cathedral, and the unique moated Bishop’s Palace.

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
There is plenty to see and do in Somerset. Somerset is one of the larger English counties, with beautiful sandy beaches, enchanted woodlands, and much more within the surrounding area. Somerset is known for the Cheddar Gorge, and the base for the iconic Glastonbury festival which is located a short distance away from the hostel in the month of June. Whether you want a base with great walking and cycling opportunities, or you do prefer to book the hostel as your festival accommodation, you will certainly not be disappointed. There is a public car park with space for 20 cars, 100m away from the hostel.
From Street, take the Somerton road (B3151) south for two miles. Turn right at the Marshall Elms crossroads signposted for Bridgwater A39. The hostel is 500 yards on the right.
YHA Street welcomes dogs within our social spaces only. Dogs are not permitted into bedrooms or kitchen and must always be kept on a lead. Add a dog to your booking at check out and bring your four-legged friend along with you.
