The duty of care we have to our guests, beneficiaries, staff and partners compels us to progress and open our hostels with caution and careful consideration in the best interests of the charity and those it serves.
For the foreseeable future, YHA Windermere will operate on an Exclusive Hire basis only, with contact-free check in.

Please note: All prices are based on hiring the whole place per night.
Please be aware that when staying on Exclusive Hire at YHA Windermere, you may be sharing the site with other guests who will be staying in the camping and cabins facilities. These guests are situated in a separate area of the grounds with access to their own facilities during their stay.

The self-catering kitchen contains twelve hobs, two microwaves, two fridges, and a range of kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery for guests to use during their stay. Tea towels, bin bags, washing up liquid and soap are provided.
Dining room and lounge
The dining room comfortably sits 58 and is perfect for large parties and extended family get togethers. The main lounge seats up to 20 on comfy sofas and tub chairs. There is an additional small lounge area with sofa seating for 4 people. Extra chairs can be brought in from the dining room and there is also a TV in the dining room. Highchairs are also available.
There is a large landscaped woodland and a terrace with outside furniture, with stunning views across Lake Windermere to the Coniston Fells, Crinkle Crags, Bow Fell and the Langdale Pikes.

YHA Windermere includes 68 beds:
Seven four-bedded rooms. Includes 2 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
Three two-bedded rooms. Includes 1 set of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One six-bedded room. Includes 3 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One three-bedded room. Includes 3 single beds. With sink and shard bathroom facilities.
One eight-bedded room. Includes 4 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
One eight-bedded accessible room. Includes 4 sets of bunk beds. With sink and shared bathroom facilities.
All bedlinen is provided.
There are 10 showers and 10 toilets throughout the hostel for guests to use. Soap is available with every sink. Toilet paper is also provided.
Take in the scenic views and gardens down to the shores of Windermere at the Brockhole Visitor Centre- the perfect day out for the family.
There is a great choice of high- level and low-level walks around Windermere, perfect for all ages and abilities.
Enjoy the amazing aroma of freshly baked gingerbread and sample the delights inside the tiny, but iconic, Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. It is a tradition!

Check-in and Check-out times
On the day of arrival, the Hostel is available from 4.00pm. On the day of departure you are asked to vacate by 10am.
Crowned as the largest lake in the United Kingdom, Windermere is an extensive lake that sits at the heart of the Lake District National Park- hence the name. There is plenty to do when visiting Windermere. Set sail on a relaxing cruise along the length of the lake and see the stunning sights, take on the variety of rambling and hiking paths across the rolling fells and picturesque valleys, or explore the quaint villages of Windermere or Bowness-on-Windermere where you can enjoy a bit of retail therapy and grab a bite to eat at one of the local eateries.

There is 30 car parking spaces with easy access to the hostel building.
From M6, use junction 36 following the sign to the A590 then onto A591 to Windermere. Head toward Troutbeck and turn right at Shell Garage following the YHA sign. Look out for the sign for YHA and turn right up the driveway.
YHA Windermere welcomes dogs! Add a dog to your booking at check out and bring your four-legged friend along with you.
